Another goodie for my fellow Deviants.

It's a large JPG file (3000 X 2400 & 4,5 MB size) , to make it easier to scale down for your needs.

If you use it for hobby or commercial is up to you, I don't mind. Just don't call this resource your work ;-)

Though, since this was a little more complex than my Layer Styles - I appreciate some feedback (a link to your art?) and being credited if you use it.

Enjoy :)

Elements used in this one:
A photo I took of an antique lacquered table (thanks auntie) that had the world map on it.
A self-made leather-like Layer in Photoshop
Various self-made brushes
Layer Blending and Styles/Actions
The "line-art" that looks like a frame was done also in Photoshop with shapes.
My own floral lineart (it's just barely visible and adds here more or less to the texture)

Is it okay if I modify this for a rainmeter application I'm making? I only need a small segment of this image. Naturally I'd give you full credit for the image.

Looks nice your skin-changer :)
Is this from an manga / Animé series or completely your original story? I am always interested in shapeshifter characters and stories :)

She's just an original character I made up. Technically she's a Tolkien-verse character. After seeing the Hobbit in theaters about 4 times, I decided I wanted to RP on tumblr with her. I more or less created her because I felt that there were too few skin-changers in the rp circle, and I didn't think I could handle a canon character.

Ah :) wonderful. There are in general not many shape-shifter characters in any kind of RPG... (besides werewolves and such)

I think a lot of it stems from people not knowing how to RP as one without it seeming like god-modding. Then, when they try not to, they basically turn the character into a human. I took some time looking at guides for RPing them, since they've floated onto my dash on tumblr. RP help blogs are really useful for all sorts of characters.

Is there a version of this which doesn't have the map on it? Or the edited edge lines?

Nope. The Map is the base picture and the rest was done in Photoshop from scratch in order to achive this wooden look.
It's a mix of filter, layer styles and brushes and some line-art (left side next to the frame) done on my Wacom tablet.

Thanks. I'm actually by surprised by how much I like the site myself, since I was dreading the assignment i needed to do it for, but I'm now enjoying it. I'm not much of an art history buff either, but I had to create a digital library for a digital library class, and since the topic could be anything (and the works we had in it couldn't be copyrighted), I decided to go with an art library since I love making and viewing art. And I love the pre-Post-Impressionism most of all because I detest much modern artists such as Pollock and Rothko who paint splatters and squares (and who are in my opinion talentless lol).

I agree on Pollock and Rothko. Not my taste either, even my cat can do better :D
There are only a few modern artists I adore, and one of them is Giger. Love his dark morbid expressions. Another one is Heartfield and Paolo E. Serpieri . All absolutely different genrés of art, yet brilliant.
From the oldschool art I like Luca Signorelli. I am not the religous type, yet I love how he drew.
Sadly I dunno the name of the artist from that time who created those darkish nightmarish paintings - dealing about sins and hell. We discussed these a lot during art class many years ago.
